The charity - which provides a lifeline to people who have fallen on hard times - has joined forces with the organisers of the Big Quiz in a bid to raise much needed funds.

The Big Quiz is being staged by the KM Charity Team at the University of Kent’s Sport Centre in Canterbury on Friday, April 24 and there is still time to enter a team.

Ruth Auger, volunteer project worker for Catching Lives, said: "We work to help end the harm and damage caused by homelessness, rough sleeping and insecure housing.

“We rely on fundraising activities to do this and are very much looking forward to taking part in the Canterbury Big Quiz.

“I hope lots of people turn out."

Event organiser Dominic Comins of the KM Charity Team said: “Join in the fun and encourage friends and work colleagues to book a table.

“Barclays bank is matching funds raised pound for pound so we need as many teams as possible to sign up now and ensure a huge cash payout for charity.”

Other businesses backing the event include MHA MacIntyre Hudson, Shepherd Neame and Hornby Visitor Centre.

A table for up to eight costs £65 but there’s a £10 discount plus bottle of wine for the table with the booking code CABQEB15. Participants will also receive a drink on arrival, ploughman’s meal, and entry into a PO Ferries voucher prize draw.

Proceeds raised will be shared between Catching Lives, Kent and Canterbury Hospital’s League of Friends, and children’s road safety services.
