It's official - our Chris really CAN walk on water!

Sorry, this video asset has been removed.

Physically demanding but fantastic fun! This was the verdict of volunteers trying out Water Walking spheres in advance of a fund-raising event to support Pilgrims Hospices in East Kent and Kent Walking Bus

A dozen people, including lifeguards from Herons pool in Herne Bay where the charity event will be staged on Saturday, March 14, tried out the spheres.

The latest challenge to be dreamed up by fund-raisers at the KM Group and kmfm charity team involves participants stepping inside a giant hamster ball and trying to walk, run or roll the length of a swimming pool.

Those testing it said two minutes in the sphere felt like a 30-minute workout in the gym, but much more fun.

To take part in March, participants must pledge to raise a minimum of £75. The event is for adults only and there is a maximum weight restriction of 15 stone.

Organisers stress that participants will not get wet and can wear shorts and T-shirts in the sphere.

The event will take place from 2pm to 5pm with a maximum of 90 participants. Photographer Stuart Blackledge will take video footage free of charge which will be added to to the KM Charity Challenge YouTube site.

Water Walking firm Chillout 'n’ Challenge, Herons pool and Argyll Insurance have all agreed to sponsor the charity event so far but more sposnors are needed - contact Simon Dolby on 07989 164 752.

• A commercial children’s water walking session will take place at Herons on Monday, February 16, during school half-term. For information and prices contact the pool.
