The KM Charity Team will be holding its annual assault course challenge in April - and is inviting anyone who’s up for the challenge to test their mettle against a series of around 20 obstacles, some army-level.

Water jumps, tunnels, climbing walls, a rope walk, a tyre wall, and balance beams will test entrants’ endurance – but it’s a team event, so friends and colleagues can help each other take on the challenge and raise funds for any good cause of their choice.

The assault course will take place on Sunday, April 15 at Betteshanger Park, near Deal, with start times between 9am and 1pm.

Fundraisers from several prominent Kent charities, including the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance, Demelza Hospice Care for Children and the Heart of Kent Hospice, helped to launch the event at the park.

KM Charity Team chief executive Simon Dolby said: “Last year’s assault course attracted 20 teams and we’re hoping to beat that number this year.

“The course is a great challenge if you really want to push yourself and discover what you’re physically capable of. You’ll get muddy and you may well get wet - but that feeling at the end, when you realise you’ve beaten the challenge and raised funds for a cause that needs your help, is brilliant.

“It’s also a great bonding exercise for friends and colleagues.”

Candice Roberts, the organiser of Deal Breastfeeding Support Group, which entered a team last year, said: “You do get dirty and muddy – but it’s great fun.

“Your friends can assist you if you get stuck. Sometimes you do, but that’s also part of the fun.”

Teams can have up to six people and anyone over 14 with a reasonable level of fitness can take part. There will be prizes for the biggest individual fundraiser and the best fancy dress outfits.

The event is supported by MY/PT and Eurostar. For more information or to sign up, visit www.kmcharityteam.co.uk/booking and don't forget to enter the discount code KMNEWS18.
