The event, staged at the Ashford International Hotel, attracted 18 teams all of whom scored impressively well, according to event quiz master Simon Dolby.

A number of organisations collaborated to stage the event including Specsavers, Hallett and Co, Office Angels, Independent Music Productions, and Ashford International Hotel with major support from Shepherd Neame.

The event raised £1,000 for good causes with children's literacy and road safety causes benefiting, alongside the Kentish Express newspaper's charity of the year - the East Kent Hospitals Trust Dementia Appeal.

Simon Dolby said: "All the teams involved scored higher than those attending sister heats of the KM Big Quiz Charity Quiz earlier this year, which was great to see. I want to give special thanks to the organisations helping us to stage the event, particularly Shepherd Neame for so generously supporting the charity bar."

Big Quiz organisers plan to move the event back to a Friday night in 2018, in response to feedback from teams.

Mr Dolby said: "We suffered a drop in the number of teams by switching to a Saturday night and will put that right next year."
