Putting buy to let under the magnifying glass

A FAIR designed to give help and advice to landlords and potential investors in buy-to-let properties, is the first of its kind in the county.

The Southern Private Landlords Association (SPLA), has created the one-day Kent Property Investors’ Fair to give landlords and potential landlords an opportunity to receive free information and advice.

The fair is being held on March 10 at the Hop Farm, Paddock Wood, from 12 noon to 9pm. It will bring together more than 50 exhibitors, professional services, suppliers and organisations. Many of these will also be giving specially negotiated discounts.

The Kent Property Investors’ Fair will be opened by MP Ann Widdecombe. A packed programme of seminars begins at 1.45pm. The exhibition closes at 9pm.

Seminars and workshops planned for the afternoon include discussions on: investment strategies; how to avoid choosing a bad tenant; possession; buying and selling at an auction; Kent investment hot spots; buying a new property; gas safety; plus what the future holds for residential letting.

The Southern Private Landlords Association has been established for 30 years and exists to give practical help, advice and support to buy to let investors and residential landlords. Members are offered a comprehensive range of services and the organisation helps landlords to operate professionally, cost-effectively and within the many complex laws that affect renting property.

Mike Stimpson, chairman of the SPLA and president of the National Federation of Residential Landlords, said: “We are looking forward to a lot of interest in the Kent Property Investors’ Fair and the chance it gives for landlords, and potential landlords, to get together and find out about current legislation and services. Whether you are buying to let, expanding your portfolio, or an experienced landlord, the Kent Property Investors’ Fair should be of great help to your business.”

Entrance to the Kent Property Investors’ Fair is free of charge and does not need to be booked in advance. Those attending will also benefit from free entrance to the Hop Farm.

The fair is being held in association with the Kent Messenger Group. To find out more, call the SPLA on 01273 600847 or visit www.spla.co.uk
