The pair then left the house and the jewellery was then found to be missing.

Investigating officer Det C Roz Friend said: ‘We believe the first suspect managed to enter the house using a confusion tactic and acting as if he knew the victim, despite never having met before.”

The e-fit is of the first suspect who is described as a white man with a big build and around 6ft tall.

He was clean shaven and was wearing a grey flat cap and a dark coloured zip-up jacket. He was believed to be around 40 years old and softly spoken with a local accent.

The second suspect is described as a white man of average build, approximately 5ft 8 ins tall. He had short dark hair and a dark coloured zip-up top, dark trousers. He was clean-shaven, aged between 25 and 30 years old and had a local accent.

The incident happened at around 1pm on Friday, February 5.

DC Friend added: “Elderly people tend to be targeted by distraction burglars, which makes them particularly vulnerable so we are reminding friends and family of elderly people to keep a close eye on who is visiting them.

“Make sure they keep their doors, both front and back, locked, and if they aren’t sure about any visitors, do not let them in.”

Anyone who recognises the man in the efit, or has information about the incident itself, is asked to contact Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting ZY/3966/16.
