Crews wearing breathing apparatus are tackling the flames using a hose and a main jet.

The cause is not yet known and the extent of the damage is yet to be established.

Bus services along the coast road are also experiencing delays with the 102 route affected around Littlestone, Lydd Pilot to Folkestone.

The British Red Cross emergency support team and the fire service volunteer response team were also attending to help residents.

A statement from Kent Fire and Rescue said: "One man required oxygen therapy for the effects of breathing in smoke.

"Kent Police are also on the scene to manage traffic in the area.

"Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes."

Firefighting efforts were scaled back at 2.20pm to just one fire engine with crews damping down remaining hotspots.
