Thomas Coleman, 22, of Sycamore Close, Lydd, charged after death of Sylvia Loyds in crash near Brenzett

Police have charged a man following a fatal road crash in which a 62-year-old woman was killed.

Sylvia Loyds, from Romney Marsh, died after the collision on the A259 between Brenzett and Lydd in February.

Thomas Coleman, 22, from Sycamore Close, Lydd, was charged by Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit with causing death by dangerous driving.

He will appear before Folkestone magistrates on September 9.

Police had been called just after 10am on Sunday, February 8, following the crash close to the junction with Tickner’s Lane, Brenzett.

Kent Online reported at the time that Ms Loyds' green Fiat Seicento had been in collision with a blue Peugeot 207.

Both cars had been going in the same direction, from the Brenzett roundabout towards Lydd.

Two fire engines were sent to the scene along with two land ambulances and the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance.

Ms Loyds was flown to St George’s Hospital in Tooting, south London, but did not survive.
