Overturned lorry closes road in Lydd

Householders who saw a lorry overturn in Lydd rushed to the aid of the driver as diesel began to leak from the wreck.

The accident happened just after 5pm when the truck tipped over on Jurys Gap Road.

Witness Jake Iszard said several people went to help the driver get free from the cab after the saw the lorry overturn.

The driver - a man in his 40s - was taken to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford suffering from leg and back pain.

A crane and a recovery truck were called, arriving just after 7pm.

The road was currently blocked, and police managed traffic at the crash site.

The truck was lifted upright at about 8.30pm.
