Police called to Straight Lane, Brenzett, reveal that they had to clear sheep from the road

Commuters were alarmed to see two police cars with flashing blue lights at Brenzett.

But it didn’t turn out to be baa’d news - it was for sheep on the road who were successfully rounded up.

Two police cars were seen parked at the roadside, with blue lights flashing, on the A259 Straight Lane near Brenzett this morning.

A passing motorist told Kent Online: “There were two police cars on the railway line area as I was driving from Sussex towards the Brenzett roundabout.

“This was at about 9.15am and it made me wonder what had happened.”

There was no woolly response from police who made clear they had just removed a hazard from the busy road.

A spokesman said: “Kent Police was called at 7.53am to reports of sheep in the road on the A259 at Brenzett. Officers attended the scene and with the assistance of local farmers the sheep were returned to a nearby field shortly after 9.30am.”

Most passing motorists would have been anxious to see the police presence as they passed, fearing it could be a major incident - but here there was nothing to bleat about.
