Lydd: Power out as car hits electric pole in Station Road

Electricity has been restored after a car crashed into a pole and caused a power cut across a part of Lydd.

It happened in Station Road, Romney Marsh, at around 4pm.

An investigation was carried out into the damage.

UK Power Networks confirmed more than 250 customers had been affected.

A report by the Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters were called to assist a man who was trapped in a car that had collided with a telegraph pole in Station Road.

"The man was released and passed into the care of SECAmb. UK Power was also on the scene to attend to a snapped power cable. The road has been closed while the scene is made safe."

Power has now been restored to all the affected homes.
