Two dogs dead, two people hurt in house fire at Boarmans Lane, Brookland.

Two dogs are dead and two people hurt after fire erupted at at house.

Firefighters were called at about 5.15am today to the terraced property at Boarmans Lane, Brookland.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus tackled the flames on the first floor using a hosereel and covering jet.

A woman in her late 60s was taken to hospital after breathing in smoke and a man in his mid 60s was given oxygen therapy at the scene.

Kent Fire and Rescue Services says that Two dogs were given oxygen therapy but died at the scene.

The fire, which is believed to have started in an airing cupboard, is being treated as accidental and is thought to have been caused by an electrical fault.

Fire crews were at the scene for an hour and a half.
