Police partially closed Sandwich bypass this evening (Saturday) following reports of concern for a man's welfare.

Officers attended at 4.55pm on the A256 near Sandwich.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "Officers and SECAmb attended the scene and the road was partially closed while the man was detained and seen to by medical staff."

Motorists reported delays near to the bridge close to Poulders Farm.

Congestion started to clear at about 6.30pm, after traffic was diverted from the bypass through the town, causing gridlock earlier this evening.
