Police call for witnesses after arresting a man accused of assault in Short Street, Sandwich

Kent police have issued an appeal for information after an assault took place in Sandwich last weekend.

A man has already been arrested after the incident between 11.45am and 12.15pm on Saturday, June 7 in Short Street.

A Kent Police media spokesman said: "The incident is reported to have occurred in the doorway of the building society after a man was asked to move his van which was causing an obstruction.

"It is alleged the driver of the van assaulted the 42-year-old man who had requested him to move."

A 55-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are on-going.
