Police are investigating after a van driver approached a schoolboy in Cliffsend when he missed his bus this morning.
It happened at the bus stop close to Pegwell Bay service station on the A256 Sandwich Road at just after 8am.
A 13-year-old boy, who attends Sandwich Technology School, had just missed his bus and was approached by the man who told him he would give him a lift.
A police spokesman said: "The boy ran home to report the incident.
"The suspect is described as a white man of thin build, 5ft 8in tall, aged 35 to 40 with untidy blonde hair. He was wearing brown trousers and a polo top and looked scruffy and unkempt.
"He was driving a white medium sized van which looked fairly new."
The school have warned all parents in Thanet and Sandwich to remain vigilant, sending a text with a description of the man that was then shared on social media.
Anyone with information is asked to phone Kent Police on 101, quoting reference SI/ZY/4661/14.
