Sandwich MP Craig Mackinlay urges young people to get in touch with their views on local issues

Sandwich MP Craig Mackinlay is urging young people to get in touch with their views on local issues.

The MP for South Thanet has launched a survey for young people centred on issues or concerns they are experiencing in his constituency.

Mr Mackinlay has been supporting the Make Your Mark campaign which aims to get young people voting and is trying to reach one million young people and complete the online consultation.

Make Your Mark is sponsored by the National Citizen Service and last week, Mr Mackinlay attended an event in support of the campaign.

He said: “I was concerned to learn that only 43% of 18-24 year olds voted in the last general election and I want to do what I can to re-engage young people with politics.

“We have an important debate about Britain’s membership of the European Union coming shortly and I believe that young people should be at the heart of this debate. I have launched a survey for young people to tell me what issues they are experiencing in South Thanet and I would urge all young people across my constituency to have their say and help inform my work as their representative.”
