Woman cut free from vehicle after single car crash near Sandwich

A woman was cut free from her vehicle after a single car crash near Sandwich.

Fire crews were called at 7.42am on Sunday to the mini roundabout at the junction of the A256/A258 at Sandwich.

The woman, believed to be in her 60s, was trapped in the car by her injuries.

A man in his 50s had already released himself before the crews arrived.

Firefighters used hydraulic rescue equipment to remove the roof of the car to free the woman, who was then placed in the care of paramedics.

Two ambulances and two ambulance cars were on the scene.

Both patients were suffering from chest and back pain, were treated at the scene and taken to William Harvey hospital as a priority.

Crews made the scene safe by 9am.
