A21 at Sevenoaks shut after serious crash

A man has suffered serious injuries after a car crashed into a tree.

Police in Sevenoaks closed both carriageways of the A21 between the M25 and A25 for several hours in the aftermath.

Fire crews cut a passenger free from the car.

A police spokesman said earlier: "We were called at 8.51am regarding a report that a car had left the carriageway of the northbound A21 prior to the exit for the A25.

"Officers, South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service are currently at the scene where a man is being treated for injuries that are described as serious.

"While emergency services are dealing with the incident, the northbound carriageway will remain closed between the exits for Morley’s roundabout, Hildenborough and the A25. The southbound carriageway is currently closed between the M25 and the Morley’s roundabout exits."

The road had reopened by 12.30pm, but long delays remain.
