Marie Curie Cancer Care's Sevenoaks fundraising group raised more then £1,000 for nurses

Members of a Sevenoaks fundraising group hosted a Blooming Great Tea Party in aid of Marie Curie nurses.

The money raised by the Marie Curies Cancer Care's fundraisers is used to provide free care to people with terminal cancer and other forms of illness, in their own homes.

The tea party successfully raised more than £1,000 pound for the charity.

Carole Howlett, who chairs the group said: "for two hours, the garden resounded with happy chatter.

"Guests tried to guess the age of the teddy and how much money was in a jar, squeezed socks, to determine their contents, browsed through second-hand books and bought local fruit, vegetables and cakes, together with raffle tickets.

"Thanks to the generosity of contributors, we raised a magnificent £1000, to support local Marie Curie nurses.

"It was a delightful occasion, made all the more enjoyable by raising so much money, for such a good cause. Indeed, judging from comments we’ve received, our Blooming Great Tea Party is fast becoming an event not to be missed.”
