Application for Tubs Hill House development rejected by Sevenoaks District Council

Plans to build four penthouses on top of a building in Sevenoaks have been rejected by the district council.

The application set out to build another level of properties on top Tubs Hill House in London Road and adapt the front and rear of the building.

The council's development committee refused the proposal as it stated the alterations would harm the character and appearance of the building and create an undesirable form of development.

The council said the application failed to improve the economic, social or environmental conditions of the area and was refused - despite the recommendation of approval made by the planning chief officer.

In a report submitted before the decision the planning chief said the plans should be approved subject to a range of conditions including the materials being tested prior to any work being carried out and details of soft landscaping submitted the council.

The company behind the development now has the opportunity to appeal this decision.
