Firefighters were called to a car blaze on the M20 last night but the occupants were nowhere to be found.
Crews were dispatched to the coastbound carriageway, near junction 3 for Sevenoaks, just before 12.20am today.
After the flames were extinguished, officers from Kent Police began a search of the area for the driver or any passengers.
Patrols called the force helicopter for assistance but no one was located.
Inquires are ongoing.
