A cyclist is in a critical condition after he was involved in a crash with a van.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident in Eynsford at 1.40pm yesterday (Saturday).

The accident in Bower Lane involved a black bicycle and a white Iveco van.

The cyclist, a man aged in his 20s, sustained a head injury and was airlifted to a London hospital. His condition is described as critical but stable.

The road remained closed until 7pm for investigations.

Detective Sergeant Scott Lynch from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "I am interested in speaking with any witnesses that may have seen the van or bicycle travelling along that narrow country lane.

"Although it’s a rural road, the warm weather may have brought local people out during that time."
