Brasted: Man charged in antiques shop theft investigation

Detectives investigating a theft at an antiques shop have charged a man.

It is alleged that at around 1pm on Tuesday, November 28, a man entered a business in Brasted High Street and used a hammer to smash a display cabinet.

The offender was reported to have snatched a number of items and then fled the scene on a bicycle.

Darren Stanger was arrested in Lewisham, London on 21 December and has now been charged with theft.

He is also charged with a separate offence of theft from a person, following allegations an elderly woman had her handbag stolen in Westerham, on 1 December 2017.

Mr Stanger, aged 51 and of no fixed address, has been remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday, December 22.
