Bonfire spreads fire in Oldbury Lane, Ightham

Firefighters had to be called after a large bonfire got "out of control" in Ightham.

It happened in Oldbury Lane at around 5.30pm and quickly spread to grass and trees in an area measuring about 40m x 30m.

Around 10 firefighters in two engines and a bulk water carrier were involved in the operation and the blaze was put out within an hour.

Crews spent another hour damping down and left the area at 7.45pm.

The cause of the fire was not specified.
