Sevenoaks: Fundraiser and Pink Week organiser, Steph Harrison, smashes £100,000 milestone

Sevenoaks local and charity fundraiser, Steph Harrison, has officially raised more than £100,000 for Breast Cancer Care.

Miss Harrison, who has been supporting the charity for seven years, smashed the milestone with even more money yet to be counted from this year's Sevenoaks Pink Week.

Since being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008, the 43-year-old has been hugely involved with the work of Breast Cancer Care.

To raise £100,000, Miss Harrison has organised bucket collections, fundraising events, book signings with Martina Cole and Susan Lewis and Sevenoaks Pink Week.

The fifth annual Sevenoaks Pink Week took place in October with local businesses turning pink, a local Sportathon and Pink Party.

Last year supermodel and TV personality, Lisa Snowdon, was the face of the event which is hugely popular throughout the district.

Speaking of her involvement with the charity, Miss Harrison said; “Breast Cancer Care is there to support everyone facing breast cancer, they really do care. If I had not come across the charity, my treatment for breast cancer and the way I looked at my life would have been very different.

"They are a second family to me and I just can’t imagine not being part of it. I couldn’t have done this alone though. "A huge thank you needs to go out to everyone who has helped me get to this point, especially our Pink Week committee – it really has been a team effort."

Samia al Qadhi, chief executive at Breast Cancer Care, said; “Steph’s achievements are huge and we are so grateful for her dedication and support. As one of our most active supporters, Steph has always been a wonderful asset to the charity, but to reach a £100,000 fundraising total is phenomenal.

"Steph’s hard work, and the hard work of the people supporting her, means we can continue to be there for anyone facing breast cancer, from day one.”

Miss Harrison said she would like to extend a special thanks to Linda Larter and the Sevenoaks Town Partnership, Maxine Chakowa, Sam Palmer, and Kate Brown for their support with Sevenoaks Pink Week.
