Sevenoaks man fighting for life after crashing into a tree at Old London Road, Knockholt

A man is fighting for his life this morning after a serious car crash.

The 79-year-old, from Sevenoaks, sustained serious injuries when his silver Skoda Fabia collided with a tree on Old London Road, Knockholt.

The incident, which happened at 6.29pm yesterday, is being investigated by the Serious Collision Investigation Unit and police are appealing for information.

Investigating officer DC Mark Robinson said: "Kent Police was called to a report of a single vehicle collision on Old London Road, near the junction with Birchwood Lane, Knockholt.

"It appears the Skoda Fabia was travelling from Dunton Green towards Knockholt Pound when, for reasons as yet unknown, it left the carriageway and collided with a tree. The driver, a 79-year old man from the Sevenoaks area, sustained serious injuries and has been taken to a London Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

"Any person who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle prior to the incident who has not yet spoken with the police, is asked to call the Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit dedicated witness appeal line on 01622 798538, or email sciu.td@kent.pnn.police.uk quoting incident 06-1186."

The man’s next of kin has been notified.
