West Kent commuters delayed after person hit by a train near Hither Green

Kent commuters are warned to expect delays after a person was hit by a train in south-east London.

Emergency services were called to Hither Green station shortly after 3pm, but sadly the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The line between London and Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Paddock Wood and Ashford is closed while investigations are carried out.

The line between London and Dartford/Gravesend is also affected.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: "We were called to Hither Green following reports a person had been struck by a train.

"Officers from BTP and Metropolitan Police along with paramedics attended but a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Officers are working to identify the woman and inform her family."

The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

Southeastern said trains will be diverted to/from London Victoria where possible and tickets are being accepted on London Buses.

Passengers can also use tickets on high-speed services from St Pancras.

Disruption will continue until at least 6pm.
