Sevenoaks District Council's Big Community Fund allocates £4,000 to recreational facilities

Over £4,000 in grants has been put towards town facilities as a result of a council community fund.

Children and adults alike will be able to enjoy improved recreational facilities in the Sevenoaks area thanks to the grants from Sevenoaks District Council's Big Community Fund.

Following a successful application by District Councillor Anna Firth, children in Brasted will benefit from £1,875 being used to tarmac the play area in the recreational ground.

The money will not only improve the look and safety of the playground, but will also improve the accessibility for visitors who use this popular space.

Chiddingstone Village Hall will also benefit from a grant of £2,500 to improve access to the venue which will benefit all users including Chiddingstone Primary School, who use the it regularly.

Local District Councillor Paddy Cooke secured this grant.

Cllr Roddy Hogarth, the Council’s cabinet member for economic and community development, said: “It’s funding local community projects like this which demonstrate how successful the Big Community Fund is in improving the quality of life for our residents.”

Anyone wishing to apply for a Big Community Fund grant, which can be a maximum of £3,000 per ward, or £6,000 as a joint application with a neighbouring ward, should contact their local district councillor.
