Sevenoaks School students get third place in Student Investor Challenge final

A team of student traders from Sevenoaks School placed third in the country after reaching the national final of the 2015 ifs Student Investor Challenge.

The "abc1234" team consists of Shyam Kalairajah, Akanksha Satdasani, Euan Williams and Max Noka, who had to beat over 10,000 other teams in the competition, in order to reach the final.

During the event, the students were required to compete in a live trading simulation, in which they delivered an interactive business presentation to an expert panel of judges.

This year’s challenge attracted more than 10,000 teams in 2015 where the top 50 teams’ investments totalled over £7 million in just a four month period. A team from Malmesbury School were the overall winners.

Philip Hulston, who teaches the team at Sevenoaks School, said:

"The team had a fantastic day and learnt a great deal about the fast pace of the trading world during the morning, together with the importance of both teamwork and communication."

Commenting on Sevenoaks School’s bronze medal performance, ifs University College Vice Principal Alison Pask said:

“Our congratulations go not only to the team from Sevenoaks, but also to all of the finalists who took part in this year’s challenge. Once again, our panel of judges had a really tough decision to make with so many well-researched and presented arguments and Sevenoaks was unlucky not to win."
