Teenager from Swanley wins EuroMillion draw and takes home more than £270,000

A teenager from Swanley has won more than £270,000 in the EuroMillions draw.

Chelsea Walker, 19, who regularly played the lottery with her partner Diogo Leca, 22, had been winning almost every draw for the last eight month.

But when she matched five main numbers on September 6, she pocketed her most impressive win yet totalling at £278,037.30.

Chelsea still lives at home with her mum and dad, and four younger siblings, and always used to hide her winnings in her dressing table.

She said: “I don’t even remember buying the ticket but I can certainly remember discovering it was a winner!

“I just assumed it was £2.80 until it flashed up with the winning amount.

“Within ten minutes Diogo was at our house and we were sitting there with a cup of tea each speechless at our good luck, I didn’t sleep a wink that night.

“It was totally bonkers, I logged in and out of the App about 15 times as I was sure there must be some mistake and then I think I was in so much shock I just burst into tears of joy!”

But Chelsea and Diogo are not rushing into anything and they have instead invested the money until they are ready to buy their own home.

She said: “Quite a few people have been asking what will be our first purchase but this kind of luck doesn’t come around every day so we need to make it last.

“We are going to carry on with our current plans to pass our driving tests and get a mobile, then start looking for a house together.

“If there’s anything left after this we may look at having a holiday, who knows maybe that little drawer of mine will keep yielding results!”

Through the National Lottery, players raise on average £34m for funded projects every week.

In Chelsea’s Sevenoaks postcode there have been more than 410 individual National Lottery grants made to date, funding projects across the arts, sports and heritage.
