A woman died after a fire tore through her home in a Valentine's Day tragedy.

Three fire engines were scrambled to the house, in Styles Close, Four Elms at 9.30pm on Saturday and entered wearing breathing apparatus.

They removed the victim from inside, and extinguished the blaze which had started in the lounge.

Paramedics were called but the 56-year-old woman was declared dead at the scene.

A Kent Police spokesman said her next of kin had been informed.
