Deep clean planned for Medway Road, Sheerness

People living in a busy town centre road are being warned to move their cars tomorrow (Wednesday).

Swale council says Medway Road, Sheerness, will be having a ‘deep clean’ as part of a programme which has identified 25 streets across the borough that would benefit from a more intensive clean.

Vehicles on the road need to be moved to allow crews to get to areas usually inaccessible to regular street cleaning teams.

Medway Road residents have been warned to expect council deep clean.
Medway Road residents have been warned to expect council deep clean.

A council spokesman said: “Every fortnight, a team will visit the streets to remove litter, leaves and debris, as well as clearing back the edges of weeds. It usually takes a couple of hours – from around 11am to 1pm.

“The streets have been identified by contract monitoring officers who have assessed the need for cleaning, usually where car parking is heavy and the area is usually inaccessible to mechanical sweepers.

“The deep cleans are in addition to the regular street cleaning carried out by the council, which are scheduled by the contractor and closely monitored by the council and the contractor’s supervisory team.”
