A garden party in aid of a charity which supports adults with disabilities has boosted funds by more than £1,000.

Members and volunteers at the Freedom Centre, St George’s Avenue, Sheerness, hosted it on Wednesday.

More than 100 people went along to join in the fun including the Mayor of Swale, Cllr Sue Gent.

There was plenty going on to keep guests entertained including stocks – braved by Mad Mike Young. The money raised will be put back into the running of the centre.

Manager Anita Provan said: “It was very well supported by members and their families and friends.

"I’d like to thank all the local businesses who donated prizes for the raffle.

"I’d also like to thank Asda in Sittingbourne and Swale council for donating towards our new paving.”
