Prisoner escapes from Standford Hill prison in Eastchurch on Sheppey

A prisoner is back behind bars today after escaping from a Sheppey jail.

Police were called shortly after 8pm last night after it was reported a man had "absconded" from the open prison at Eastchurch.

Following an search, a 30-year-old man was arrested in the Minster area at 9.10pm on suspicion of escaping from lawful custody.
