A traditional Sunday high tea has helped boost funds for a charity which provides free treatments to people with serious illnesses.

The Harmony Therapy Trust hosted the tea at its base in Victoria Street, Sheerness, at the weekend.

More than 30 visitors enjoyed the sandwiches and cakes which were served and helped raise £150.

It was so popular, they have decided to make it an annual event.

Founder Dawn Cockburn said: “Julie Murby and Julia McDougall worked their socks off – everybody did.

“They were superb and I’d also like to thank former trustee David Hake as without him we wouldn’t have had the lovely garden to hold it in.

“It was a wonderful afternoon and exceeded expectations.”

Meanwhile, Mrs Cockburn has revealed that, together with Sheppey FM, she is planning an event to replace the Donkey Derby which has been cancelled.

Folk with Harmony will take place at Barton’s Point Coastal Park, off Marine Parade, Sheerness, on Sunday, August 25, from 11am to 9pm.

There will be music, a hog roast, the charity will be giving therapies and the Sheppey Model Engineering Club will be running its mini railway.
