Amazing aerial images capture the scene after 100 acres of cut straw caught fire in a field.

Smoke could be seen coming from near Harty Ferry Road, Sheppey.

Firefighters worked with the landowner to manage the fire and allow it to burn in a controlled way, with crews holding a watching brief.

Crews managed to surround the fire and extinguish it by about 3.50pm.

They left the scene at about 7.40pm, handing control back to the landowner.

It is one of several field fires to have happened today, including one which covered the equivalent of 10 football pitches near Island Road, Upstreet.
