Sharrocks Insurance holds a charity crazy golf tournament at its Sheerness office

A crazy golf contest raised a hole lot of cash for charity.

Sharrocks Insurance held Friday’s mini-tournament at its base off High Street, Sheerness.

The ground floor and forecourt of its offices in Watson’s Mill were transformed into a nine-hole course which was open to the public and coincided with the firm’s 45th anniversary.

It was part of a week’s fundraising which included a sponsored walk between the company’s former offices in Sittingbourne and Sheppey.

In total, £1,000 has been raised for three causes, Age UK Sheppey, Barnardo’s and the Dogs Trust.

The groups are supported by the firm’s charitable foundation, Sharrocks Send a Smile.

Alan Doucy, the company’s managing director, said “crazy” putters were privy to a unique experience.

“The seventh hole was a windmill, so as far as we know, we’re the first crazy golf competition to have a windmill within a windmill,” he said.

“We’re really pleased to have raised £1,000 in a week.”
