Five suspected illegal immigrants have been picked up by police on Sheppey this afternoon.

The group of men were spotted in Queenborough and were detained by officers in Whiteway Road.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at 1.08pm to a report of suspected migrants in the Queenborough area.

"Officers located five men who will be handed to the Home Office Immigration Enforcement."

Last October more than 30 people were taken into custody after being found in the back of a van delivering to Queenborough's Aesica Pharmaceuticals.
