Kent band, Jel, pitch-up with Bruce Foxton’s, From The Jam, at London’s Clapham Grand tonight.

For one night only, they are supporting the British chart legends who are on the road as part of the All Mod Cons 35th anniversary tour.

The two bands shared the stage at Chelsea FC’s Under the Bridge club in December 2011.

Their last stint with the pop trio originally fronted by Paul Weller was a major success, and the boys are looking forward to reacquainting fans old and new with their Anglophile rock and roll in a set containing all their own songs.

Originating from Sheppey, Sittingbourne and Medway, the power pop five-piece, featuring Andy Gray (vocals), Dave Crunden, Rob Pope (guitars), Jon Gower (bass guitar) and Nev Broad (drums), earned themselves a nationwide following with their critically acclaimed debut album, All the Blinding Menace, and can boast of playing an enviable list of top music venues in Britain and Europe.

It means the show in support of From the Jam, who are reviving the 1978 album which sent their career skywards, should be a walk on the common for Jel.

Guitarist, Rob, said: “It’s never easy playing any gig, no matter the size or occasion, but there are some that seem to bring out the best in us.

“I’ve no doubt that this will be one of them.”

Fellow strummer, Dave, echoed his bandmate’s sentiments, saying: “We were a little in awe of them last time, who wouldn’t be?

“But that only gave us more focus on our game and in the short set that we did, we certainly left the crowd wanting more”

He added: “We’re looking forward to giving the crowd more of the same, plus we’ve written some great new material that we hope will leave them hungry again.

“It’s going to be a great night”
