Sheppey Folk and Blues Club hold 12 hour singathon for Comic Relief at Minster Working Men’s Club

A 12-hour music marathon raised £321 for Comic Relief.

From 11am to 11pm on Saturday, performers got up on stage at Minster Working Men’s Club, Union Road, Minster, to sing and play instruments while others told jokes.

Sisters Orla, seven, and Molly Nixon, four, both sang pop songs.

The evening culminated in a concert by members of Sheppey Folk and Blues Club, which organised the fundraiser.

Graham White, a member of the group, said: “It was a bit quieter than we had before although it was fairly constant pretty much all that time.

“It was a fairly cold day, plus the rugby was on and it was a week later than we would have run it normally.

“But it was good that everybody came along and we will be running it next year the day after Red Nose Day.”

Fellow members Paul Steel, Helen and friends donated £50 because they couldn’t make it while Minster Working Men’s Club and Gas Contract Services donated £25 and £60 respectively.
