An inquest later ruled the cause of death had been hypoxic brain injury - which is irreversible brain damage caused by a lack of blood containing oxygen – and carbon monoxide inhalation.

The case has been sent to Maidstone Crown Court where it will be heard on February 6. No plea was entered.

Mr Blackwell, also of Coronation Drive, was released on unconditional bail.
