Man arrested after morning telegraph pole crash

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of drink-driving following a crash involving a car and a telegraph pole.

Officers shut Scocles Road, Minster, shortly after 5.40am today following the collision to allow engineers to assess the damage to the pole.

The road was shut for more than three hours following the crash which happened close to the junction with Elm Lane.

A police spokesman said: "We were called to a collision in Scocles Road, Minster, at 5.43am on Sunday.

"It was reported to involve a car and a telegraph pole near the junction with Elm Lane.

"A road closure has been enforced while engineers assess damage to the pole and one man has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving."
