Man in hospital after double hit and run in Eastchurch

A man needed emergency surgery after being knocked down by one car then struck by another as he lay on the ground in a double "hit and run".

Police want witnesses to come forward after the crash at around 10.25pm on Wednesday, April 20 at Lower Road, Eastchurch.

It's said the 52-year-old was hit near the junction with Eastchurch Road, before being struck by a second vehicle as he lay on the ground.

Both vehicles failed to stop.

Ambulance crews treated the man for serious injuries to his legs at the scene before taking him to hospital.

He broke both of his legs and needed immediate surgery. He is now recovering in hospital.

PC Matthew Craig, the investigating officer, said: "I would like to speak to anyone who either saw the collision, or who perhaps later saw a damaged vehicle in the area.

"If you believe you have information relating to this incident and haven’t yet been in touch please call Kent Police immediately."
