Granville Road, Sheerness, was the scene of a reported armed robbery last night in which a man was stabbed

A man was stabbed during a reported armed robbery in Sheerness.

The alleged attack took place at about 9.35pm yesterday in an alleyway between Harris Road and Granville Road.

Police said the man, in his 40s, was approached by another man who stabbed him and stole his phone.

The victim suffered a knife wound to the stomach and was taken to King's College Hospital in London.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

At about 10.45pm last night, a police helicopter circled areas of Sheerness and Sittingbourne in a search for the attacker.

Detectives continued to carry out investigations at the scene of the alleged attack this morning.

A police spokesman said inquiries were ongoing.
