Man injured after early morning knife attack outside Tesco in Sheerness

A man in his 20s has been injured after a knife attack outside a supermarket.

Police and ambulance crews were called to Tesco in Bridge Road, Sheerness, shortly before 1.30am.

The victim suffered a stab injury to his chest which police have described as superficial.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance crews.

An eyewitness said the area by the store's entrance was cordoned off whilst forensic investigations were carried out.

It was cleared by 7.15am.

Two men from Sheerness, aged 23 and 40, have been arrested on suspicion of assault and are currently in custody.

All of the people involved are known to each other.

A Tesco spokesman said: "We are aware of this incident and are assisting the police with their investigations."

Officers are now appealing for witnesses.
