Man in 60s stopped by police on Sheppey Way after allegedly stealing car

A man in his 60s was stopped by police after allegedly stealing a car.

Officers swooped on the vehicle on the Sheppey Way, near the Kingsferry Bridge, at around 5.30pm yesterday.

It had reportedly been taken without the owner’s consent.

The driver – a 64-year-old man from the Island – was arrested at the scene.

He has been bailed until Monday, October 31.

A police spokesman said no damage was caused to any vehicle during the pursuit.
