A man suffered burns to his hands after a chip pan caught alight at a home in Sheerness.

Fire crews attended the blaze, which was caused by the cooking equipment overheating, at an address in Pepys Avenue at 6pm yesterday.

After tackling the fire in the kitchen, the crew used thermal imaging cameras to ensure the flames had not spread.
