A four-year-old boy has become a social media star after bursting into tears when Ed Sheeran did not get number one in the charts.

The Halfway Houses Primary School pupil became an internet sensation after the singer shared the clip with his 21.3 million followers on Instagram.

The Thinking Out Loud hitmaker posted it at the end of last month with the caption: “Freddie, I feel your pain man.”

It has attracted more than 11,000 comments from people all over the world and has been liked by football legends David Beckham and Frank Lampard, and singer Camila Cabello.

Freddie’s mum, Carrie, 45, who now lives in Halfway, hopes her son can meet his idol.

She said: “I’ve got the back up of hundreds of people saying we’ve got to make this happen and I just think it would be fantastic.”

The mother-of-four added: “Freddie now considers Ed Sheeran as his mate.

"It would absolutely blow his mind to meet him.

"He is a massive fan, his favourite song is Shape of You, and he will sit and watch his music videos for ages.

"For Fred to meet him in person or get his autograph, even, it would make his world.”

Carrie said she originally sent the video of Freddie to social media and entertainment company LADbible.

“I had to share it because his reaction was so dramatic and it made us laugh watching it back,” she said.

“The next minute, Ed Sheeran posted it on his Instagram page and it went absolutely mental.

“Freddie is lapping it up. Last week he got recognised in the garage at Queenborough.

He was having a paddy over a milkshake and the lady serving said ‘is he always this dramatic?’

“I said, funny enough, he has just been famed for it and a man in the queue behind me said he had seen the clip on the internet.

“It’s just incredible that a little boy from Sheppey has been liked by David Beckham and all these people from around the world.”
