Missing prisoner Scott Callaghan arrested as second inmate Billy Harkins hunted after going missing from HMP Standford Hill on Sheppey

A prisoner who went missing from a Kent jail has been arrested, it was confirmed today.

Scott Callaghan, 35, was held on suspicion of being unlawfully at large after failing to return to HMP Standford Hill on Sheppey on Saturday, June 28.

Police are still appealing for help in finding prisoner 29-year-old Billy Harkins, who disappeared from the Eastchurch jail on the same day.

Callaghan was arrested by Merseyside Police last Monday, July 7, Kent Police confirmed today.

Officers are continuing to carry out enquiries to trace Harkins, who was serving a sentence for aggravated burglary.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to phone 999 and quote incident reference 28-1560.
