Although it is not known how many jobs will be created, a similar sized store in Tenterden, employs 12 people.

The news was revealed this afternoon by Giles Haywood, of LXB Retail Properties - the firm behind the retail park.

The deal was only recently done and a banner has been erected above the unit's entrance.

As well as Iceland, it joins existing traders Poundland, B&M Bargains and Sports Direct.

Mr Haywood also revealed two other national stores are currently in talks with LXB about the final two units.

Although he wouldn't be drawn on the names, he said all would hopefully be revealed by Christmas.

Meanwhile, work is well underway at the Marstons' pub behind Morrisons, next to the A249.

The foundations of the Four Bridges have been laid at the 150 customer-capacity carvery, which will provide up to 40 jobs.

LXB has provided £415,000 towards Sheppey bus and public transport services to improve connections to Neats Court.

It has also handed over £100,000 to Swale council to “enhance the shopping environment and attractiveness” of Sheerness town centre.
